Management Information Systems is a field that combines business and informatics. Today, with the innovations that the developments in the field of informatics have added to business science, much more effective and efficient decision-making processes have been formed. In addition, the management of information systems has become a management issue in itself. Issues concerning Management Information Systems have emerged with the interaction and integration of these two fields. The main purpose of the Management Information Systems program is to train multi-faceted executive candidates who are effective and competent in their fields, who have a good command of contemporary informatics applications, who recognize innovations such as electronic commerce, supply chain, decision support applications, expert systems. In this context, Management Information Systems Curriculum at OSTİM Technical University, which took its place in the academic community as a Third Generation University, was established based on industry-academy cooperation, based on an innovative and entrepreneurial education system, integrating theory and practice, and centered on workplace experience and practices. In this context, the program aims to train graduates with a leading entrepreneurial spirit who can see the whole, think creatively and innovatively, have problem-solving skills and effective managerial characteristics. The basic philosophy of the Management Information Systems Undergraduate Program is to contribute scientifically and professionally to the education of new generations with a global and technological vision in Turkey, whose integration process with the world will accelerate in the 21st century.

The placement of the students in the program is done by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM). Foreign students are placed following the verification of the equivalence of their high school degrees as well as other requirements specified in the higher education legislation and the OSTIM Technical University legislation in force and other relevant legislation. OSTIM Technical University shall establish its own selection and placement system for foreign students within the legislation in force when deemed necessary.
Following the enrollment of students, the courses they have taken in prior bachelor’s degree programs may be accepted provided that they are validly and legally documented and the compatibility and adequacy of the subject, scope and contents of the course in terms of the program/course offered at OSTIM Technical University are assessed and approved by the Department Board and Faculty Executive Board.
Students are required to complete 240 ECTS credits, complete all coursework successfully in their education program and have a minimum of 2.00/4.00 cumulative grade point average to graduate.
OSTİM Technical University Management Information Systems program includes basic courses such as programming, software, hardware, data mining, economics, and management. Students who take these courses receive basic knowledge in the field of Management Information Systems. Mathematics, analysis, and design-based courses are also included in the program to enable students to develop analytical thinking and technical skills. In addition, the curriculum offers advanced elective courses in the field to allow students to focus on their desired areas. Educational techniques such as case studies, simulations, workshops, conferences, and teamwork will be used in the lessons, accompanied by new technologies.
Graduate of the program shall;
1. Recognize and distinguish the basic concepts such as data, information, and knowledge in the field of Management Information Systems and know the processes to be followed for data acquisition, storage, updating, and security
2. Develop and manage databases suitable for collecting, storing, and updating data
3. As a result of his/her ability to think algorithmically, easily find solutions to the problems concerning the basic business functions
4. Learn programming logic, have information about current programming languages
5. Be able to use up-to-date programming languages
6. Be able to take part in teamwork or lead a team using knowledge of project management processes
7. Know ethical and legal rules, use professional field knowledge within the scope of ethical and legal rules
8. Have knowledge in the fundamental areas of business administration namely management and organization, production, finance, marketing, numerical methods, accounting, etc., and have the knowledge and skills to work in-depth in at least one of them
9. Be able to solve the problems encountered in the field of internet programming by designing web applications
10. Develop and manage logistics and supply chain management activities.
11. Adapt his/her theoretical knowledge and the experience he/she will gain through practice at the departments of businesses such as information technologies, R&D, and management to real life.
12. Be able to develop strategies that will provide a competitive advantage with his/her advanced knowledge of management strategies and management functions
13. Develop a business idea, commercialize the business idea, and design and manage his/her own venture using entrepreneurial knowledge
14. By using English effectively, they can follow, read, write, speak and communicate universal information in the field of management information systems in a foreign language with professional competence.
Students who graduate from the Management Information Systems program can take part in information technology-related positions such as system designer and manager, network administrator, database systems specialist, web design specialist, computer programmer and software developer, information security specialist, as well as accounting, management related to business management. and organizational information, such as e-commerce systems, enterprise resource planning systems, supply chain management systems, transaction processing systems, decision support systems, information management systems, expert systems, data mining, virtual reality technologies, cloud systems and mobile communication systems. They can work in positions such as management, coordinator, project management or consultancy in many sectors and fields such as telecommunications, e-commerce, e-business, banking, insurance, accounting and so on for the design, installation and management of systems.
Graduates of the program may apply to master’s and PhD programs in social sciences, particularly in business administration.
