Prof. Dr. Demiral AKBAR

Prof. Dr. Demiral AKBAR completed his Bachelor's (1993) and Master's (1996) degrees in the field of Plasma and High Energy Physics in Mosul University. In 2006, he received his PhD in Plasma and High Energy Physics from METU. Between 2006 and 2010, he worked as a Researcher and Expert in many national and international projects in METU (GÜNAM). For more than 10 years, he has been actively involved in the development and installation of industrial manufacturing engineering for solar energy and renewable energy systems in national and international companies.

Akbar worked in many national and international projects. Turkish Accelerator Center Project (TAC), Ankara; Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH-Germany Research Center (TEXT); and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-ROSSENDORF (FEL-Free Electron Laser) are some of the centers where these projects.

Dr. Akif Hacınecipoğlu received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2009. After graduation, he worked as teaching and research assistant in the same department from 2010 until 2018. He received his M.Sc. degree with a thesis on development of a tele-operated semi-autonomous ground vehicle in 2012 and his Ph.D. degree with development of predictive human-aware navigation systems for mobile robots in 2019 from Mechanical Engineering department of METU. He founded Milvus Robotics Ltd in 2011 where, with his co-founders, he developed Turkey’s first autonomous mobile robots for material handling needs in factories and warehouses. He also worked as a researcher and project manager in different robotics projects funded by TUBITAK and various associations. His main research areas are robotics, robot vision, autonomous systems, path planning and navigation.

     
 

Assist. Prof. Dr. Atakan PEKER

Atakan Peker graduated from Boğaziçi University Mechanical Engineering and Physics departments and received his doctorate from California Technology Institute (CALTECH) on materials science. In his dissertation studies, he made and developed the invention of liquidmetal alloys (bulky metallic glass) together with his thesis teacher. Subsequently, he joined a start-up company so that the present invention could be transformed into a commercial product and developed by technology transfer. After his doctorate, he conducted scientific-technical researches in the private sector and university in USA for 21 years and also worked as an R&D manager. He has extensive experience in start-up, intellectual property, technology transfer and patent development. He has more than 40 patents and patent applications, and their commercial product sales and licensing revenues exceed $ 100 million. Most of these patents were licensed by the Apple company in 2011. He has more than 20 scientific publications with a total number of citations exceeding 5,000. In 2015, he joined IP and IBM Research and began working as Business Development Manager in Turkey related with these issues. Finally, he worked as the General Manager at YİTAL Mikroelektronik A.Ş.

     
   

Assist. Prof. Dr. Çağıl Merve TANIK

Dr. Çağıl Merve Tanık completed her undergraduate education at Hacettepe University Mechanical Engineering Department in 2011. She received his master's and doctorate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Middle East Technical University in 2014 and 2020 respectively. As a master's thesis, she discussed a compliant version of the universal joint, which has great importance in machine design. The theoretical capacity of the world's first compliant cardan joint made of steel is introduced by simulations and some original approaches. In the doctoral thesis, a fully compliant slider-crank mechanism is designed that has large displacement ability. The mechanism is produced and theoretical results are compared with experimental results. During her graduate and doctorate education, she worked as a research assistant in the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Middle East Technical University for more than 8 years. In 2020, she worked as a part-time lecturer at Çankaya University. Her main areas of study are flexible mechanisms, solid mechanics and finite element analysis.

     
 

Assist. Prof. Dr. Sühan MERGEN

Dr. Sühan Mergenholds BS, MSc and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Mergen has spent more than ten years in the private sector and in academia at the same time. In addition to Ostim Technial University, Mergen currently works as a R&D Manager at B-Tech Incorp. Adopting a multidisciplinary engineering approach, his research interests are but not limited to fluid dynamics, heat transfer, additive manufacturing, micro-controllers, experimentation&measurement, and acoustics. Dr. Sühan Mergen is also engaged in a variety of projects as supervisor and reseacher. He has provided consultancy to several institutions on various fields throughout his professional practice.

     

 

Prof. Dr. Mehmet MUTLU

Prof. Dr. Mutlu received the degrees of B.Sc. (1980) from Middle East Technical University, M.Sc. (1983) and Ph.D. (1988) from Hacettepe University, in Chemical Engineering. He was working as a professor in Biomedical Engineering Department for the last 6 years (2013-2019) in TOBB University of Economics and Technology and director of the Plasma Aided Biomedical (pabmed) research group. He was a professor of food, nanomedicine-nanotechnology and bioengineering divisions and director of the Plasma Aided Bioengineering and Biotechnology (PABB) research group at Hacettepe University in the period of 1990-2013. He published more than 100 papers in SCI coverage with 2450 citations (h index: 30), and edited 2 international books on Biosensors (Taylor and Francis, CRC) and Plasma Technology (European Science Foundation, ESF). He directed more than 25 projects including KONNECT, KORANET, COST, FP7, UNDP, EUREKA, TÜBİTAK and SANTEZ programs. He specialized on plasma surface modification: for biosensors; amyloid like proteins; Protein/Bacteria antifouling surfaces; medical textiles; food//biomaterial sterilization or decontamination. He was IAEA Research Fellow at University of Manchester, Medical School, United Kingdom; Fulbright Scholar, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Department of Biological Systems Engineering, USA and Marie-Curie Professor, University of Maribor, Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Slovenia. At present, he is the member of Fulbright Foundation Scholarship Programs Referee Committee; Member of Kazakhstan Academia of Sciences, International Projects evaluation Committee and Member of Polish Academy of Sciences.  

     
   

Research Assist. Mehmet Can TÜRK

Mehmet Can Türk received his BSc degree from Firat University Mechanical Engineering Department in 2018 and started his MSc studies at Fırat University, Mechanical Engineering Department, Theory of Machines and Dynamics Branch in 2019. His areas of interest are as follows: robotics, automation systems, artificial intelligence, 3D printing technologies and rocket science. As the BSc thesis, he studied on a six degree-of-freedom robotic manipulator (robotic arm) in which; 3D design, kinematic analysis and real-time simulation via Matlab-Simulink have been covered. For his MSc thesis, he currently studies on a physical six degree-of-freedom robotic manipulator (Staubli RX160) where the aim is to control the manipulator via Matlab.

Prof. Dr. Yunus A. ÇENGEL

Yunus Çengel is Professor Emeritus at the University of Nevada, Reno, USA and the founding dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Adnan Menderes University in Aydin, Turkey. He received his Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in USA. Before joining ADU in 2012, he held the position of the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Yildiz Technical University YTU and as Advisor to President at Scientific and Technological Research Council TUBITAK on international cooperations. He also served as the advisor to several government organizations and private companies on energy efficiency, energy policies, and education reform. Professor Çengel is the author or coauthor of the widely adopted textbooks such as Thermodynamics: An Engineering Approach, Fundamentals of Thermal-Fluid Sciences, Heat and Mass Transfer: Fundamentals and Applications, Fluid Mechanics: Fundamentals and Applications published by McGraw-Hill and translated into Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Italian, Greek, and French

     
     
   

Assist. Prof. Enes TAMDOĞAN

Enes Tamdoğan obtained his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Uludağ University in 2009 and completed his M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at Brandenburg University of Technology, Cottbus in 2011 with his thesis on “Numerical Study On Swirling Flows in a Pulverized Oxy-Coal Burner (Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Technology)”. There, he also focused on sustainable energy supply techniques beside of CCS Technologies. Then, he pursued his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering at Özyeğin University with research interests of cooling technologies (Direct-Indirect Liquid Cooling, etc) in electronics, heat transfer on structured surfaces, CFD analysis and experimental studies for single and multi phase Natural&Forced Convection problems. He also has worked as visiting researcher at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta for three different projects.
Thereafter, he has joined to TAI and established a heat transfer group working for TFX Engine and then moved
with his group to TR Motor Propulsion Inc. Currently, he is working on gas turbine engine cooling technologies and dedicated his complete focus on turbine blade cooling problems.
