Prof. Dr. Yavuz CABBAR


Yavuz Cabbar graduated from Anadolu University as a chemical engineer (1982). He received his master's degree(1985) from the same university and his doctorate (1993) from Ankara University. He was a postdoctoral fellow at University of California at Davis (1994-1995). He received the title of Associate Professor in the science of process and reactor design (1996). He taught undergraduate and graduate courses at Hacettepe and Gazi universities. He began his working life as Deputy Inspector of Labour in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and rose to Inspector of Labour (1984-1992). Later, Ministry of Environment Inspectorate (1992-1994), Chief Inspector (1994-1997), Vice Chairman of Inspection Board (1995-1997), General Directorate of Environmental Impact Assessment and planning (1997-1999; Turkish Sugar Factories A.P. He served as General Manager and Chairman of the Board of Directors (2000-2001); member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Standards Institute (2001-2003). From February October 2001 to October 2011, he served as deputy undersecretary in the Ministry of Industry and trade. May 2003 May 2006, as well as deputy undersecretary of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK) and 2010-2011, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Patent Institute. Since October February 2011, he has been the General Secretary of the Ankara Chamber of Industry (Aso), and in February 2021 he became a professor at the Faculty of Engineering of OSTIM Technical University. His fields of study are mathematical modeling, simulation, process control and risk analysis. He is married and has 2 children.



 Prof. Dr. Tahsin Erkan TÜRE

He graduated from Middle East Technical University, Department of Mathematics in 1978. He studied at UC, Berkeley on a Fulbright scholarship, and received MA in Statistics (1980) and PhD in Theoretical Statistics (1982).After PhD, he worked at METU, Dept of Statistics from 1982 to 1986. Then he moved on to Yarmouk University in Jordan until fall 1987, from where he went to Sultan Qaboos University (Oman) to work as an assistant professor until 1994.He returned to Bilkent University’s College of Engineering, Dept of Industrial Engineering as an associate professor in 1994. In 1996 he became a full professor in Marmara University’s Faculty of Engineering. He was the Head of the Industrial Engineering Department, and the Quality Coordinator in the Engineering Faculty of Marmara University, which received European Quality Finalist Prize in the year 2000, the only higher education institute to receive such an award at that time.He was invited to be the Founding Rector of International University of Sarajevo from 2005 to 2008. Erkan Türe served the founding positions as the Provost and the Dean of the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Istanbul Şehir University, from August 2009 to September 2016. He established the engineering faculty, set up and directed the English Language School, and represented the university in many national organizations.In 2016, he took over as the Rector of International University of Sarajevo for a second time. He resigned in 2018 and returned home.His research interests are: Statistical design of experiments, quality management, and theory of statistics. He has many published articles, conference proceedings and presentations, book chapters, and lecture notes.During his part-time years in TÜSSİDE (TÜBİTAK) from 2000 to 2005, he was involved extensively in long-term strategic management, restructuring, self-assessment and process management projects with government organizations and private companies.He worked and taught in 11 universities in 5 countries. He taught courses in a broad spectrum including Calculus, Probability, Statistics, Linear Statistical Models, Regression Analysis, Nonparametric Statistics, Design and Analysis of Experiments, Sampling Techniques, Stochastic Processes, Robust Statistics, Case Studies, Optimization Techniques, Statistical Quality Control, Computational Statistics, Calculus, Mathematical Reasoning, Decision Analysis, Operations Research, Total Quality Management, Forecasting.

Burak Köksal completed his undergraduate studies in Industrial Engineering at Eskişehir Technical University in 2020. Currently, he is pursuing a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering at Middle East Technical University. His research interests are optimization and data science.
