Clarification Text on the Law on the Protection of Personal Data
This clarification text has been prepared by OSTIM Technical University as the data controller within the scope of The Communiqué on Procedures and Principles for Compliance with the Obligation to Inform and Article10 of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data No. 6698.
Your personal data can be collected by OSTİM Technical University Student Affairs Department, Human Resources Department, Information Technology Department, Faculty, Institute and School Deans / Directorates and Secretariats alongside other units affiliated to the Rectorate in verbal, written or electronic media and can be processed in order to carry out educational and training activities, to the extent permitted by all relevant national and international legislation. In line with the purposes listed above, your personal data may be transferred to the Council of Higher Education, Student Selection and Placement Center, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of National Education, Social Security Institution, ULAKBİM, OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Directorate, OSTİM Research, Development and Solidarity Foundation and institutions that are affiliates of the Foundation, educational institutions we work in cooperation with and software companies, banks and businesses our university interoperates with within the limits of educational activities.
Image recording is made by means of security cameras inside and outside of our education building in order to ensure building security, and the recording process is supervised by the OSTIM Technical University Support Services Department. Surveillance recordings are deleted on a regular basis every 3 months.
The pictures and videos taken when you attend the meetings and events organized at our university can then be used on social media, and on our university's website and print media to announce and promote the events.
As long as you use the internet of our university, your internet traffic is monitored in accordance with the provisions of the Law No. 5651 on the Regulation of Internet Broadcasts and Prevention of Crimes Committed through Such Broadcasts and can be submitted to judicial authorities when required.
When you use our university's e-mail addresses, your data is stored in our university's and Microsoft data centers (servers) and shared with third parties abroad for this purpose.
As per Article 5 of the Law, your personal data can be automatically or non-automatically processed on the legal grounds that "it is mandatory for the data controller to fulfill his legal obligation" and “It is mandatory for the legitimate interests of the controller, provided that such processing shall not violate the fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subjects.”
The personal data in question can be transferred to the judicial authorities or the relevant law enforcement officers upon request in accordance with the resolution of legal disputes or in compliance with the relevant legislation.
