At our university, the corporate technology executive or chief technology officer is the authorized person who proposes basic technology strategies in line with the short or long-term goals of our university. In order for our university to be in the league of leading universities in the world, it undertakes a consultancy role in determining technology-related strategies in projects developed in cooperation with industry, universities, private organizations and the public.
The CTO is emerging as a key player in the corporate C-suite, given that digital transformation is a high strategic priority. Our university's CTO works in collaboration with other C-suite executives and offers innovative technology products and services to our rector to direct our university towards greater efficiency and better performance.
As a senior executive focused on our university's technical needs and challenges, the CTO's role can be similar to that of the CIO (Chief Information Officer). But while the CIO is tasked with overseeing the IT (Information Technology) department, staff, and infrastructure to support day-to-day operations and working with business leaders to align IT with business goals, the CTO is responsible for the overall technology strategy.
